Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Crystal Wand FAQ: Your Questions, Answered Honestly
We get a lot of questions — some practical, some philosophical, and some that make us smile. Here are the ones that come up most often, answered with the same honesty and detail we'd give a friend asking over coffee.
About Crystal Wands in General
What exactly is a crystal wand?
A crystal wand is an intimate wellness tool carved from a single piece of natural stone — in our case, either rose quartz or black obsidian. Unlike mass-produced silicone or plastic products, each wand is hand-shaped from genuine crystal, polished to a smooth finish, and completely unique in its natural veining and coloration. They're used for self-care, sensual exploration, and by some practitioners, energy work and yoni healing traditions.
Are crystal wands actually safe to use internally?
Yes — when they're made from the right materials and properly finished. Both rose quartz (Mohs hardness 7) and black obsidian (Mohs hardness 5–5.5) are non-porous when polished correctly, meaning bacteria can't penetrate the surface. They're free of chemicals, dyes, and synthetic materials — literally just stone. That said, always inspect your wand before use for any chips or rough spots, and use a body-safe water-based lubricant. We go into more detail about safety in our crystal safety myths blog post.
How do crystal wands compare to glass or stainless steel?
Great question — we get this one constantly. All three materials share the "non-porous, body-safe, temperature-responsive" trifecta. But crystal brings something the others don't: natural variation and (for those who value it) energetic properties. Every rose quartz wand has unique internal veining, so your piece is genuinely one-of-a-kind. Glass and steel are manufactured to be uniform. It really comes down to whether you prefer industrial precision or natural artistry — there's no wrong answer.
I've never used one before. Where do I start?
If you're completely new to crystal wands, we'd suggest starting with something smooth and moderately sized. Our Lunaris is popular with first-timers because of its straightforward shape and manageable proportions. Whatever you choose, use plenty of water-based lube (crystal has less flex than silicone, so lubrication is your best friend), go slow, and let your body guide you. There's no rush.
About Our Products
What materials do you use?
Two and only two: rose quartz and black obsidian. We've tested other stones over the years but keep coming back to these two for their combination of safety, durability, beauty, and energetic properties. You can read the full story on our Crystal Properties page.
Are your wands hand-carved?
Each wand starts as a rough piece of stone that's shaped on specialized lapidary equipment and then progressively polished through multiple grits until the surface is glass-smooth. "Hand-carved" in the traditional chisel-and-hammer sense? Not exactly — crystal is too hard for that. But each piece is individually shaped, inspected, and finished by skilled artisans. The process takes hours per wand, and we reject any piece that doesn't meet our surface quality standards.
Why the creative names instead of descriptive ones?
Honestly? Because "7-inch curved rose quartz wand with bulbous tip" doesn't exactly spark joy. We give our wands names — Blooma, Noctis, Aetheris — because we think intimate wellness products deserve the same thoughtful branding as any other premium product. Plus, it makes conversations and recommendations a lot more comfortable. "Have you tried the Lunaris?" sounds way better than the alternative.
How should I choose the right wand for me?
Think about what you're looking for. Our collections are organized by design philosophy: Arced Elegance for curved designs that follow the body's contours, Rippled Treasures for textured sensation, Budget Gem if you want quality at a lower price point. Not sure? Email us at Support@CrystalThrill.com with what you're looking for and we'll give you personalized recommendations — no judgment, just helpful guidance.
Shipping, Returns & Practical Stuff
Is the packaging discreet?
Completely. Your wand arrives in a plain, unmarked box with no product descriptions or branding visible on the outside. The return address shows our business name, not "CrystalThrill." Inside, the wand is wrapped in a velvet pouch for protection. Your mail carrier, roommate, or nosy neighbor will have no idea what's inside — and that's exactly the point.
What if my wand arrives damaged?
Crystal is tough, but shipping can be rough. If your wand arrives with any chips, cracks, or damage, take a photo and contact us at Support@CrystalThrill.com within 48 hours. We'll send a replacement — no back-and-forth, no hassle. We pack our wands carefully (bubble wrap, foam inserts, rigid box), so damage is rare, but it does happen occasionally and we stand behind our products.
Do you ship internationally?
Currently we ship within the United States with free shipping on orders over $100. We're exploring international shipping options but haven't rolled them out yet — the combination of crystal's weight and customs regulations for certain product categories makes it tricky. Sign up for our newsletter to be the first to know when international shipping launches.
Can I return a wand if I don't like it?
Due to the intimate nature of our products, we can't accept returns on used items — and honestly, you probably wouldn't want a pre-owned crystal wand from a stranger either. However, unused wands in original packaging can be returned within 30 days. Check our full return policy for details.
Care & Maintenance
How do I clean my crystal wand?
Warm water and mild soap — that's all you need. We've written a whole guide on this: Cleaning & Charging Your Crystal Wand. Short version: wash with gentle soap after each use, pat dry, air dry completely. Avoid alcohol, bleach, or any harsh chemicals.
Can I use any lubricant?
Water-based lubricant only. Silicone-based lubes won't damage crystal the way they damage silicone toys, but water-based is easier to clean off stone surfaces and is generally the safest option for intimate use. Oil-based lubricants can leave residue in any micro-texture on the stone surface, so we recommend avoiding those.
My wand has a tiny chip. Is it still safe to use?
If you can see or feel a chip, we'd recommend retiring that wand from intimate use. Even small chips can have sharp edges that aren't visible to the naked eye. A chipped wand makes a beautiful display piece, meditation tool, or desk crystal — but it shouldn't be used internally. Safety first, always.
